The MMRS drafts response plans, supplies equipment and conducts exercises and training courses in cooperation with the member agencies.

Q: When did the MMRS begin?
A: The Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS) Program began in 1996, and the Salt Lake MMRS was created in 1999. Ongoing Congressional appropriations have funded contracts with 125 MMRS jurisdictions, including the Salt Lake MMRS, through fiscal year 2007.

Q: Where is the MMRS Program based?
A: The Federal MMRS Program is currently located in the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) www.dhs.gov., in the Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP). The Salt Lake MMRS office is located in the Salt Lake City Fire Dept., which is the sponsoring agency for our area.
