MMRS is a program under the Department of Homeland Security. While no community can be 100% prepared for unknown disasters it is our goal to ensure all agencies responsible for life-saving and population protection are capable and prepared to respond to any mass casualty event that may occur in the Salt Lake Metropolitan Area, with a primary focus on weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and terrorist attacks. There is little doubt that a mass casualty incident will be multi-jurisdictional.
For that reason we work with several agencies, from the local level
through the federal level, to prepare for a coordinated response.
